Tiki Drink recipes

TIKI DRINKS
 
Mai Thai
Juice of 1 lime
3/4 oz. Orange Curacao
2 oz. orgeat syrup
1/4/oz. rock candy syrup
2 oz. golden rum
splash of grenadine
Put ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a margarita glass. Fill with crushes ice. Decorate with slivers of spent lime rind and fresh mint.

Blue Hawaiian3 oz. Pineapple Juice
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
3/4 oz. Puerto Rican Rum (gold)
1 oz. cream of coconut
Put in crushed ice in glass, add ingredients, and stir gently.

Scorpion Bowl
1 oz. dark rum
1 oz. gold rum
1 oz. 151 Proof rum
2 oz. gin
2 oz. vodka
4 oz. orange juice
4 oz. pineapple juice
4 oz. grenadine
Blend ingredients, add to punch bowl with ice. Garnish with orange slices, cherries, and/or orchids (and plastic scorpions) Serves 6-8

Blue Lagoon
3 oz. pineapple juice
1 tsp. orgeat syrup
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
Shake with ice cubes, then strain into a glass filled with crushed ice.

TIKI1 1/2 oz. gin
1/2 oz. bourbon
3 oz. chilled ginger ale
Juice of 1/2 lime
glass filled with ice. Garnish with mint.

GILLIGAN'S ISLAND1 oz. 99 Bananas
1 oz. coconut rum
1 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. cranberry juice
Serve over ice.

 
FUN TIKI DRINK FACTS
 
The Singapore Slingwas invented in the early 1900's at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The name may derive from the German word "schlingen" which means "to swallow".

The Mai Tai was invented by Victor Bergeron (founder of Trader Vic's). Desiring a new rum drink, he mixed his first Mai Tai in 1944 for some visiting Tahitian friends,who proclaimed it "Mai tai-roe ae" (which means, "out of this world - the best").

The Zombie is a legendary drink that was created by Los Angeles barmeister Don the beachcomber, owner of the famed Beachcomber which opened in 1934. He never gave away his original recipe, but many have tried to replicate thistiki drink.
